Stuttgart maintains an active metalworking industry in no small part thanks to Blechexpo, which positions the city right smack in the middle of metalworking innovation. Local enterprises have a solid avenue to debut their latest in cutting, joining, and connecting technologies. The event, paired with Schweisstec, is one of the best attended in the global metalworking sector with some 1200 exhibitors in the past, which collectively filled nine halls with cutting-edge solutions for the industry’s evolving challenges. With international exhibitors making up 45% of participants, Blechexpo solidified its reputation as a global industry highlight, drawing industry leaders and experts from around the world. The 2023 emphasised the ongoing transformations in sheet metal working. Digitalization and automation, which are revolutionising process optimization across manufacturing, were front and centre. Companies showcased solutions to streamline production, improve quality assurance, and respond to the persistent shortage of skilled workers. These innovations are particularly timely as the industry navigates pressing challenges around energy efficiency, resource conservation, and cost containment. Blechexpo demonstrated how automation, from advanced controllers to intelligent software systems, is reducing labour demands while boosting productivity, addressing one of the industry’s most pressing issues. This is quite important for Nuremberg’s metalworking industry, which faces higher worker shortages. The “best Award” will return to Blechexpo in 2025, honouring groundbreaking innovations in sheet metal technology. The award, which made its debut in 2023, will once again recognize excellence across five categories aligned with the fair’s hall themes. These categories spotlight different aspects of sheet metal processing, from manufacturing systems to quality control. The awards ceremony will bring together a distinguished panel of experts and trade media partners, including MM MaschinenMarkt and Blechnet, in a celebratory event that reflects the industry’s emphasis on innovation.
