The lighting industry in France has been booming and this is most clearly expressed in the stable growth of its LED lighting market in France, which is expected to reach $2.00 billion in 2024 and hit $3.07 billion by 2030. This expansion can be best attributed to increasing industrial production, burgeoning residential construction, and a resurgence in foreign direct investment (FDI) flows into the commercial office segment. In 2023, the industrial and warehouse segments accounted for the largest share of the indoor lighting market in terms of value. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated efforts to repatriate industrial production capacities to France, which has resulted in notable growth. French industrial production saw an uptick of 1.1% in December 2022, following a 2% increase in November. The manufacturing output also rose by 0.3% month-over-month in December 2022, after a 2.4% rise in the previous month. While the demand for LED lighting in this segment is approaching saturation, the continued expansion of warehouses is expected to sustain the growth in demand. The residential segment, in terms of volume, dominated the market for the same year. Residential construction has shown mixed trends recently, with new dwelling authorizations (excluding Mayotte) rising by 5.6% year-over-year to 448,416 units in the first eleven months of 2022. This followed an 18.5% increase in 2021. However, house prices in France were anticipated to stabilize in 2023, with growth potentially dropping below 5% and property sales remaining slightly above one million. The pandemic-induced shift of populations from major cities to provinces has influenced the residential indoor lighting market, which is expected to stabilize in the coming years. The office segment, significantly impacted by the pandemic and the subsequent shift to work-from-home conditions, is witnessing a rebound. FDI flows to France, which plummeted during the pandemic, surged by 191.4% in 2021 but remained below pre-crisis levels.
