In an era marked by rapid technological advancements and the explosion of digital technology, the French electronics industry is enjoying the fruits of significant transformation. The period from 2020 to 2025 is expected to witness considerable growth driven by innovations such as the Internet of Things (IoT), smart home technologies, and advancements in augmented and virtual reality. The electronics industry is integral to various industrial sectors in France, offering intelligence, autonomy, connectivity, and enhanced performance. The sector includes a diverse range of players such as component manufacturers, producers of test and measurement equipment, design office subcontractors, product manufacturers, distributors, and developers of systems and embedded software. As of 2019, the French electronics manufacturing sector employed 70,020 people across 1,033 companies, generating a turnover of 15 billion euros and contributing 4.6 billion euros in added value. The workforce distribution is quite varied, with 48% employed by component manufacturers, 37% in Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS), 10% in equipment, tests, measurements, and consumables, 3% by distributors, and 2% in design offices. France remains a significant player in the global electronics manufacturing industry. However, it still lags behind its competitors in Asia and North America. Despite this, the French sector is well-positioned to capitalize on emerging trends that promise to drive future growth. Several key trends are anticipated to fuel growth in France’s consumer electronics market. The rollout of 5G networks is set to revolutionize connectivity, enabling faster data transfer speeds and more reliable connections, which are crucial for the proliferation of IoT devices. The increasing popularity of smart homes is another significant trend, with consumers seeking integrated solutions for security, energy management, and entertainment. Advancements in augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies are also expected to play a pivotal role, offering new experiences in gaming, education, and remote work.
